Mediumship

Many people want to become mediums; however few do, and even fewer are any good. There are too many self developed mediums on the circuit; although some are good most are not. It’s like giving someone your car keys and say teach you’re self to drive, they will in the end but at what cost, and what damage.

Most spiritualist churches have some form of circle, and will be run by a responsible and experienced medium; it’s the best way to go.

Re: Mediumship

Hi ghosthunter

I have met many mediums on my investigations and in my opinion there are very few "real" mediums.

I have however met some really good mediums which actually pick up real information which can be collobrorated (you are one them!!).

Re: Mediumship

Hi all.

Trainee mediums have to start somewhere, and they need to read for others no matter what, its the only way to learn, and the only way to learn from mistakes.Speaking as a psychic medium we need young fresh faced beginners because there are to many oldie worldy traditionalist parlour mediums out there.
We all know mediumship is not always 100% correct all the time and i get a cold chill everytime "spiritualist church" is mentioned. In my experience spiritualist churches are run by out of date people and at times the regular goers can ignore you and treat you as an outsider.
Always best to teach yourself, that way you will find out what methods you feel comfortable with.

Re: Mediumship

Hi Charlie thanks for your input it’s always good to hear other people views. Unfortunately some spiritualist churches can be out dated and stuffy, but I do believe some churches are trying to get into the 21st century. However I can’t agree with your bit about self development, I have come across some good mediums that have self developed, but unfortunately I’ve come across allot more bad ones. You made the point we need young blood on that I’m one hundred percent behind you, but I do think they should have the right guidance, with medium ship comes a great responsibility. After all you wouldn’t give someone a licence to drive a car with out the correct training, they would learn eventually but at what cost and what damage, I believe the same goes medium ship.

Re: Mediumship

Hi All,

In my experience there are some poor mediums and some convincing mediums who conduct or assist in investigations. There is one medium in particular who is a very good friend of mine and seems to deliver a great deal of accuracy in the majority of his work.

However, I avoid using mediums in my investigations simply because their results are almost impossible to verify. In an ideal world a medium would do their best to investigate a phenomenon, they would accurately record their results and the community at large would hold the data in as much regard as any other source of data.

But that doesn't happen. Even the most committed medium cannot deny that there is the opportunity for mediums to 'invent' information. Then it must be noted that mental health issues may lead a person, in all good faith, to believe they have gleened information which infact they have not. Next, mediums seldomly record their results in any respected evidencial system. Finally, even if it could be guarenteed that a medium, of sound mind, did indeed generate information on a phenomenon and record it accurately there are many academics who would just not accept mediumship as a valid method of data collection due to the stereotype surrounding mediums.

Therefore, I utterly respect mediums for the work they do and support any medium who wishes to make their investigations more varifiable. However, at this stage I cannot see how mediums can offer 'proof' necessary in credible investigations.

Kind Regards,

Andy

Re: Mediumship

Thanks Andy for your points, and some are valid. As a medium I can be very accurate, and then be accused of researching the information in advance, and if I come up with information that can’t be verified then I am accused of making things up, we seem to be on a looser what ever we say.

John.
