I have a specific question concerning activation of B cells. When a B cell first encounters an antigen, is there initially clonal expansion, or does there need to be an interaction with T cell to stimulate clonal expansion ? I ask this because, in the primary response, IgM is secreted, and this is prior to class switching...so I assume prior to T cell/B cell interaction. So...
1. does IgM secretion occur before class switching ?
2. if it does, is there any hypermutation ?
3. can IgM cells become memory cells? |
