Take your dog ASAP to the nearest Petsmart training school! He is still young enough to learn obedience training which is what he needs. They will train him to behave around children and adults and you will work with him along the way. They keep their classes grouped by dogs' sizes so that the little guys are not around the bigger dogs which could hurt them. I have personally seen Chihuahuas which went through the Petsmart obedience school and they are perfect little ladies and gentlemen no matter where you take them. In fact, Caramelo, a Chihuahua featured on three pages of our website travels all over the WORLD and he is a Petsmart graduate! I wish I had done this with my own Gypsy when she was younger. She is afraid of children, too, and I have to put her in another room when my three wonderful grandsons visit me about twice a year.  Gypsy is very sweet and loving around us, but I think Chihuahuas are so small they are instinctively afraid of children and a lot of adults. I hope you take my advice because I do not think your Chi will adjust to a new baby in the house and it will break your heart if you have to place it in another home! |
