Message:   I read up before I got my first Chihuahua and was told not to allow them in the bed not because it was unclean, but because they are so small you could roll over one in the night and injure them. I have 2 Chihuahua mixes who are quite large by Chi standards (10 and 14 pounds respectively) and have never had a problem with them being in the bed. Now I have a 3rd Chi, a puppy (4 mos) and she is only 1.6 pounds. I "rescued" her from a puppy mill and did not realize that she was not just small because she was a puppy, but that she will probably never get much bigger than 2.5 pounds. I have worried about her sleeping in bed because she is SOOO tiny, if I rolled over her would I even feel it? I have had her for 4 weeks now, and she has been sleeping in my bed every night. She stays up by my shoulder, and when she gets up in the night I wake up and take her to go potty (paper training her). So far it has not been a problem. I worry a little still, wish she would grow just a little bigger, but having them in the bed with you is great for you, and great for them too. They like the bonding.
